Scripture speaks clearly on the make-up of humans:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1Thessalonians 5:23<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0And the very God of peace sanctify you <\/span>wholly<\/span><\/b>; and I pray God your <\/span>whole spirit <\/span><\/b>and <\/span>soul <\/span><\/b>and <\/span>body <\/span><\/b>be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Humans consist of three parts; the body, the soul and the spirit. The word of God with study, will show us what each of these three parts are made of. God has given us our first clue of the human make-up in the creation of Adam.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

THE BODY<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Genesis 2:7<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0And the LORD God <\/span>formed man <\/span><\/b>of <\/span>the dust of the<\/span><\/u><\/b> ground<\/span><\/b><\/u>, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The first part of the human that was created or formed by God is the body. God formed this body by using the dust of the earth. When a human dies, the body decays and returns to dust.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Genesis 3:19<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou <\/span>return unto <\/span>the<\/span><\/u> ground<\/span><\/u><\/b>; for out of it wast thou taken: for <\/span>dust <\/span><\/b>thou art, and unto <\/span>dust shalt thou return<\/span><\/b>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Genesis 18:27<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but <\/span>dust and ashes<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Psalm 103:14-16<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that <\/span>we are dust<\/span><\/b>. As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.\u00a0For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

THE SPIRIT<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We will now move on to the second part of the make-up of humans; the spirit.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1Thessalonians 5:23<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole <\/span>spirit <\/span><\/b>and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If you can for a moment, imagine a dead body on a table. This body has no breath in it. This body has no life. This is the picture we have of Adam before God gave him life.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Genesis 2:7<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and <\/span>breathed<\/span><\/u> into <\/span>his nostrils<\/span><\/u> the <\/span>breath of life<\/span><\/u><\/b>; and man became a living soul.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If you are asking “What does breath have to do with with the spirit?”, the following verses will confirm that God’s breath is the spirit that gives life.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Job 27:3<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0All the while my breath is in me, and <\/span>the spirit of God<\/span><\/u> is in <\/span>my nostrils<\/span><\/u>;<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Isaiah 42:5<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth <\/span>breath<\/span><\/u> unto the people <\/span><\/b>upon it, and <\/span>spirit<\/span><\/u> to them <\/span><\/b>that walk therein:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2Thessalonians 2:8<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with <\/span>the spirit of his mouth<\/span><\/u><\/b>, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Job 34:12-16<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment. Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world? If he set his heart upon man, <\/span>if he <\/span>gather unto himself<\/span><\/u> his spirit and his breath<\/span><\/b>; <\/span>All flesh shall perish together<\/span><\/b>, and <\/span>man shall turn again unto dust<\/span><\/b>. <\/span>If now thou hast<\/span><\/u> understanding<\/span><\/u><\/b>, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So when God’s word tells us “If now thou hast understanding”, what exactly is He trying to tell us? We find the answer in the second chapter of James.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

James 2:26<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0For as <\/span>the body <\/span>without the spirit<\/span><\/u> is dead<\/span><\/b>, so faith without works is dead also.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So we see that without the spirit or the breath of God, the body cannot have life.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Psalm 104:29<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou <\/span>takest away their breath, <\/span>they die<\/span><\/u><\/b>, and <\/span>return to their dust<\/span><\/u><\/b>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Another question may be asked as to “If the body returns to the dust of the earth, then what happens to the spirit at the time of death?”. The book of Ecclesiastes will give us our answer.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ecclesiastes 8:8<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0There is no man that hath power <\/span>over the spirit<\/span><\/b> to <\/span>retain the spirit<\/span><\/u>; <\/span><\/b>neither hath he power <\/span>in the day of death<\/span><\/b>: <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ecclesiastes 3:18-21<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts. For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all <\/span>one breath<\/span><\/b>; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. All go unto one place; all are of <\/span>the dust<\/span><\/b>, and all <\/span>turn to dust again<\/span><\/b>.\u00a0Who knoweth <\/span>the spirit of man <\/span>that goeth upward<\/span><\/u><\/b>, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ecclesiastes 12:7<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and <\/span>the spirit <\/span>shall<\/span><\/u> return unto God who gave it<\/span><\/u>.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The moment that a human takes their final breath, the spirit returns to “God who gave it” and the body “returns to the dust”.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>All that is left is the soul.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

THE SOUL<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1Thessalonians 5:23<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and <\/span>soul <\/span><\/b>and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So what exactly is the soul? Let us return to the creation of Adam to get a better understanding of the soul.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Genesis 2:7<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; <\/span>and man <\/span>became a living soul<\/span><\/u>.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

When the spirt enters into a body for the first time, a LIVING SOUL is conceived. It is like when a man’s seed enters into the woman’s egg, then life is conceived. The egg of the woman without the seed of the man cannot produce life. The soul is therefore the LIFE CREATED when the spirit enters into the body. It is “who we are”. When we die, scripture says that the body returns to the dust, and that the spirit returns to God who gave it. We are then only left with the soul. Our soul is “who we are”.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Genesis 17:14<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, <\/span>that soul<\/span><\/u> <\/b>shall be cut off from <\/span>his <\/span><\/b>people; he hath broken my covenant.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Leviticus 7:20<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0But <\/span>the soul<\/span><\/u> <\/b>that eateth of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, that pertain unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, even <\/span>that soul<\/span><\/u> <\/b>shall be cut off from his people.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Exodus 1:5<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0And all <\/span>the souls<\/span><\/u> <\/b>that came out of <\/span>the loins of Jacob<\/span><\/u><\/b> were <\/span>seventy souls<\/span><\/u><\/b>: for Joseph was in Egypt already.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Revelation 6:9-11<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar <\/span>the souls<\/span><\/u> of them<\/span><\/u> <\/b>that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:\u00a0And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?\u00a0<\/span>And white robes were given unto every one of them; <\/span><\/b>and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Why would these souls need to be given white robes? Because their bodies had returned to the dust of the earth, and they were naked without their body.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Revelation 3:18<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; <\/span>and white raiment, that thou <\/span>mayest be clothed<\/span><\/u><\/b>, and <\/span>that <\/span>the shame of thy nakedness<\/span><\/u> do not appear<\/span><\/b>; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

GOD’S WORDS HAVE SPIRIT<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

John 6:63<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0It is <\/span>the spirit that quickeneth<\/span><\/u><\/b>; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

QUICKEN:<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>Primarily, to make alive; to vivify; to revive or resuscitate, as from death or an inanimate state<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the sixth chapter of John, we confirm a truth that we just learned. It is the spirit that quickens, makes alive or gives life. But if you will notice in the definition of quicken, its states that it can also mean to “revive” or “resuscitate” as from “death”. Notice the words of Christ in John 6:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

John 6:63<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: <\/span>the words that I<\/span><\/u> speak<\/span><\/u> <\/b>unto you, <\/span>they are spirit<\/span><\/u><\/b>, and <\/span>they are life<\/span><\/u><\/b>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Jesus Christ says that His words have “spirit” and “life”. We know that the body without the spirit is dead, so let us look at scriptures that prove that the words of God have spirit that can “revive” or “resuscitate” life?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Joh 11:41-44<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Then they took away the stone from the place where <\/span>the dead <\/span><\/b>was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. And when he thus had spoken, <\/span>he cried with a loud voice, <\/span>Lazarus, come forth<\/span><\/u><\/b>. And <\/span>he that was dead <\/span>came forth<\/span><\/u><\/b>, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Luk 8:49-56<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, <\/span>Thy daughter is dead<\/span><\/b>; trouble not the Master. But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that <\/span>she was dead<\/span><\/b>. And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, <\/span>and called, saying, <\/span>Maid, arise<\/span><\/u><\/b>. And <\/span>her spirit<\/span><\/u> came again<\/span><\/b>, and <\/span>she arose straightway<\/span><\/u><\/b>: and he commanded to give her meat. And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

STRAIGHTWAY<\/span><\/span><\/b>:<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Immediately; without loss of time; without delay.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

God’s words have spirit and life, and when the spirit of those words that God speaks enters into a dead body, it makes that body alive.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Rev 11:7-11<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, <\/span>and kill them<\/span><\/b>. And their <\/span>dead bodies <\/span><\/b>shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see <\/span>their dead bodies <\/span><\/b>three days and an half, and shall not suffer <\/span>their dead bodies <\/span><\/b>to be put in graves. And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. And after three days and an half <\/span>the<\/span><\/u> Spirit of life from God<\/span><\/u> entered into them<\/span><\/b>, and <\/span>they stood upon their feet<\/span><\/u><\/b>; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Eze 37:1-14<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. And he said unto me, Son of man, <\/span>can these bones live?<\/span><\/b> And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest. Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, <\/span>I will cause <\/span>breath to enter into you<\/span><\/u><\/b>, and <\/span>ye shall live<\/span><\/u><\/b>: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and <\/span>put breath in you<\/span><\/u><\/b>, and <\/span>ye shall live<\/span><\/u><\/b>; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. In conclusion, I hope that I have presented enough scriptual evidence to affirm the things that I have taught, but let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. Search the scriptures to see if these things be so. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
